25% of Joburg suburbs without power due to planned maintenance
City Power said there hasn’t been power since midnight due to planned maintenance at the Prospect substation.
JOHANNESBURG - City Power said 25 percent of the City of Joburg has been without electricity since midnight, due to planned maintenance at the prospect substation.
The areas affected include the south and south east of the city.
The utility said it is not certain about the reason for outages in other parts of the city.
The substation was switched off at midnight and rebooted at six o clock this morning.
But there are still some areas without supply.
City Power's Louis Pieterse said, "Probably supply is 25 percent of entire Joburg, so you can imagine if that substation is off due to planned maintenance and that means 25 percent of suburbs in Joburg will be off."
