Five rhino poachers handed 15 years behind bars
A sixth man was sentenced to ten years after they were found guilty of illegally hunting and dehorning rhino.
JOHANNESBURG - The Louis Trichardt Magistrates Court in Limpopo has sentenced five rhino poachers to 15 years each behind bars, and a sixth man to ten years.
They were found guilty of illegally hunting and dehorning a white rhino bull in the Mapungubwe National Park and world heritage site almost two years ago.
South African National Parks' (SANParks) Reynold Thakuli says they welcome the outcome.
"We are quite happy as SANParks with this development. It shows that our justice system is serious about wildlife crimes."
