Local

CAPE TOWN – Cape Winelands district firefighters are battling a large vegetation fire that has spread through several farms.

The blaze, which started last night, is currently raging across the Windmill farm near the Tulbagh turn-off.

It is still unclear what sparked the fire.

Fire and Rescue regional commander Ian Ross said, “The situation is that we’ve very strong winds and it’s speeding this fire at an alarming rate, but we’re still trying to get the fire under controll.”
