Zephany's biological grandmothers elated by verdict
A woman has been found guilty of numerous charges relating to the kidnapping of Zephany Nurse in 1997.
CAPE TOWN - The biological grandmothers of Zephany Nurse say they are relieved by the guilty verdict handed down to the woman who raised the girl as her own.
Western Cape Judge President John Hlope has today found the Lavender Hill woman guilty of kidnapping, fraud and contravening the Children's Act.
Zephany's biological grandmother Zephra Nurse says they are satisfied that justice has finally been served.
"I feel ecstatic! I feel good because justice will prevail. They are crying in there, let them cry."
The girl's maternal grandmother Marilyn Francis says they are relieved it's over.
"I am very grateful that I have my granddaughter back and this whole thing is behind [us]. The lady is guilty as charged because we knew it from the start."
Outside court Morne and Celeste Nurse rushed passed the media visibly emotional.

In court, they huddled together, sobbing as Judge Hlope gave a detailed account of the day their daughter was abducted.
