CAPE TOWN - A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a City of Cape Town traffic official.

Mogamat Faried Galant was killed in a hit and run incident involving a minibus taxi on Jakes Gerwel Drive earlier this week.

The City's JP Smith said the taxi driver was nabbed early this morning.

"One of the informants gave the information that allowed the Special Investigation Unit of the city to track the suspect who's responsible for causing the crash that took the life of traffic officer Galant."

Smith added police were able to track the driver to his Mfuleni home where he was arrested at 1am this morning.
