Joburg Zoo expects all striking workers to return to work
Workers at the zoo embarked on an unprotected strike forcing the zoo to close its doors to visitors.
JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Zoo says it expects all its workers to report for duty this morning after they downed tools on Friday, apparently over a wage dispute.
Management says workers who fail to return to work today could face disciplinary action.
Joburg City Park's Jenny Moodley says, "The court interdict that we secured on Friday will ensure that employees are back at their workplaces on Monday morning. We had 300 volunteers that assisted Johannesburg Zoo."
On Friday, school children who had shown for their annual visit had to be turned away.
