Donald Sebolai to be sentenced today
The former DJ will be sentenced in the High Court in Palm Ridge today for the murder of his girlfriend.
Last year, Sebolai was found guilty of stabbing Tshabalala to death at his Soweto home during an argument in 2014.
He's also been convicted of defeating the ends of justice after going on the run for over a week after the crime.
The defence has asked Judge Cassim Moosa for a sentence of no more than 12 years, while the state is pushing for a lengthy sentence.
The state hopes the sentence will send out a strong message to the country regarding domestic violence.
Sebolai's lawyer Pule Pule maintains the former radio DJ is not guilty of murder.
"Now the intention is to file an appeal against that conviction, but we need to hear first what the sentence is going to be."
During sentencing proceedings, the high court heard Sebolai has three young children whom he has to support.
His legal team also argued that he is not a violent man and will be rehabilitated in minimum time.
