Father of snatched Worcester baby wants accused released
He said he can’t judge the accused, because he does not know what drove her to commit the crime.
CAPE TOWN - The father of a baby boy who was snatched from Worcester Hospital said the accused should be released.
The 10-day-old infant was abducted from the facility's maternity ward last week but was found unharmed over the past weekend.
A 17-year-old girl has been charged with his kidnapping, while a 42-year-old woman, who had also been apprehended, had to be released due to insufficient evidence.
The father of the baby boy who went missing said he is at a loss for words, but Gerald Strydom told Eyewitness News "it's alright".
He said he can't judge the accused, because he does not know what drove her to commit the crime.
Authorities have confirmed a security guard was on duty at the maternity ward during the incident.
The case against the 17-year-old accused will continue in camera on 24 March.
