JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau has conveyed his condolences to the family of Angel Sibanda who drowned during flash floods in Diepsloot.

The six-year-old's body was found over the weekend after she was swept away by a current while trying to cross a low lying stream during last week's heavy downpours.

Three other children were saved by emergency services and community members.

Mayoral spokesperson Phindile Chauke said, "He said it must really be a painful experience for parents of such a young child to live days not knowing where their child is. As a result he has come out to express his condolences to the family of Angel Sibanda."

Police said a man fishing in the river this morning noticed the body and alerted them.
