Family receives counselling after baby's abduction
A 10-day-old boy was snatched from a hospital’s maternity ward and found unharmed days later.
CAPE TOWN - The family of a baby abducted from Worcester Hospital will continue receiving counselling and support from social workers.
A 10-day-old boy was snatched from the hospital's maternity ward late last week.
He was found unharmed in Ashton over the weekend following an extensive search and has since been reunited with his parents.
A woman in her forties and a teenage girl were arrested in Ashton at the weekend on abduction charges.
They are expected to appear in the Worcester Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Western Cape Social Development MEC Albert Fritz said, "We will continue with our support to the mother and the family of the baby that was abducted with our counselling services."
The department says it's working with police investigating the abduction of the baby.
Fritz has lauded police for the swift arrests.
