JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed that a body that was recovered at the Jukskei River this morning is that of six-year-old girl who went missing in Diepsloot.

Angel Sibanda was swept away by floods while walking home from school on Thursday as she and three other children were trying to cross a low lying area during heavy rains.

Emergency services and rescue operations managed to rescue the other three.

Yesterday, the police’s Daniel Mavimbela said the operation had been intensified and declared a recovery operation.

He says a man fishing in the river this morning noticed the body and alerted police.

“The body was trapped in the rubble and upon arrival our diving unit managed to retrieve the body from Jukskei River.”
