CAPE TOWN - Police have launched an investigation into the torching of 16 housing units in Cape Town.
Earlier this week, several homes were damaged after residents demonstrated when they were prevented from illegally occupying the housing units.
The City of Cape Town's Benedicta van Minnen said, "The situation is heartbreaking, exasperating and completely unacceptable. I plead with the community that if they have any information regarding the situation, and some of them will have such information, that they come forward immediately and report what they know to the police for investigation."
