Du Preez leads the Stormers to convincing win over Bulls
The Stormers were by far the more enterprising of the two and were fully deserving of their 33-9 win.
CAPE TOWN - Young Stormers flyhalf Robert du Preez scored 23 points to help the his side cruise to a 33-9 bonus point victory in their season opener against the Bulls.
It was a cagey first half with both flyhalves trading penalties leaving the score at 9-6 to the Stormers with no clear dominant side.
However, the Stormers picked up the intensity and took control of the match, outclassing the Bulls in all areas of the game.
They scored three second half tries with du Preez, Scarra Ntubeni and Eben Etzebeth the scorers on their way to earning themselves a bonus point.
Du Preez scored the first try adding to his superb kicking performance, he scored after finding himself out wide forcing his way over after the tryline after Stormers had assaulted the Bulls defensive line.
Etzebeth's try was a result of sustained pressure in and around the Bulls 22 metre area, they went through multiple phases ending with the big lock stretching over for their second.
Ntubeni's try was a remarkable team effort which showcased the Stormer's powerful rolling maul and also sealed the bonus point for the Cape side.
The Bulls rarely ventured into the home sides 22 metre area, however when they did, their poor execution cost them dearly.
The Stormers were by far the more enterprising of the two sides and were fully deserving of their win in front of a 40,000 strong crowd.
