'Jordaan's absence at Fifa elections suspicious'
The DA has criticised the Safa president’s decision to miss the Fifa elective conference in Zurich.
CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro has criticised Mayor Danny Jordaan's decision to miss the Fifa elective conference in Zurich.
The party claims the Port Elizabeth mayor said he could not go because there were municipality-related issues needing his attention.
The DA says the decision by Jordaan, who is also the Safa president, is suspicious.

The DA had previously called Jordaan a "part-time mayor" because of his Safa responsibilities.
Now the party is questioning his decision to skip a Zurich meeting where a new Fifa president will be elected today, to attend a council meeting that lasted an hour and had one item on the agenda yesterday.
In a statement, the DA suggests Jordaan's decision raises questions about whether it's linked to ongoing investigations into Fifa bribery and corruption.
