Truck loses its load on N2 in Cape Town
Officials have had to partially close off the N2 to traffic after a truck carrying concrete lost its load.
CAPE TOWN - Authorities have partially closed the N2 in Cape Town.
A truck lost its load near hospital bend a short while ago.
The City's traffic service has confirmed one person has been injured after the items from the truck fell on his vehicle.
Cape Town traffic services' spokesperson Maxine Jordaan says other vehicles were involved in the crash, but no further injuries were reported.
Four vehicles in total were involved in the accident.
She says the truck was carrying concrete.
The container reportedly fell onto a bakkie and the driver sustained minor injuries.
Motorist Isabella Dryer drove past the accident.
"There is a bakkie trapped underneath one of the blue containers that was on the back of the truck that came off."
A recovery process is underway.
It is expected to take some time as the truck and its load still need to be moved, and cars need to be towed away.
According to officials, the incident is affecting all routes out of the CBD and motorists are urged to use alternate routes such as FW De Klerk to get onto the M5 and then to the Southern Suburbs.
Traffic is slow moving from the Elevated Freeway and being diverted down Browning Road.
Motorists are urged to stay calm and to be patient.
