Ipid still collecting evidence on CT officers accused of rape
Ipid is yet to arrest two senior Caledon police officers accused of raping a teenager.
CAPE TOWN - The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is yet to arrest two senior Caledon police officers accused of raping a teenager.
In January, Ipid dealt with at least four rape cases involving senior police officers.
In the latest case, the police watchdog apprehended and prosecuted an Ekurhuleni Metro police officer believed to be a serial rapist.
Ipid's Robbie Raburabu says they have not arrested two Caledon policemen on charges of rape, because they are still waiting on technical reports, including DNA results.
One of the officers allegedly raped the 19-year-old woman in a bush near her home, when they were supposed to detain her and take her to a police station.
In Ipid's latest rape case an Ekurhuleni Metro police superintendent is facing two counts of rape and kidnapping.
He's been denied bail this week.
