The terms of MTN's uncapped data explained

| MTN’s Chief Customer Experience Officer Eddie Moyce explains after a listener called in to complain about an unexplained hefty yet baffling cellphone data bill from the network provider.

JOHANNESBURG - Last week a listener named called in to CapeTalk on behalf of his friend Matthew Moss, who got a hefty yet baffling cellphone data bill from MTN.

Matthew apparently purchased an uncapped daily data bundle from MTN and - after downloading several large files- was later sent a bill of R2,000 due to him using 'out of bundle data' which is charged at pricier rates.

[His choice to buy an uncapped bundle was intentional due to the obvious implied freedom of endless browsing].

According to MTN, their uncapped daily data bundle is set at a daily limit of 150 megabytes.

Thereafter the speed is 'throttled', which means you can browse the internet at a reduced speed.
