JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg City Power has conveyed its condolences to the family of a young man who was electrocuted in Sunninghill.

It's being reported the 18-year-old touched a vandalised electricity pole with exposed live wires while walking down the road on Friday.

He was declared dead on the scene by emergency services.

City Power has received a number of complaints about similar vandalised poles in the area.

The company's Yumna Sheik says investigations are underway.

"The issue of theft and vandalism unfortunately is quite a problem. We have had rampant vandalism on theft of electricity on our infrastructure throughout the City of Joburg supply areas."
