JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have arrested an illegal immigrant in connection with the murder of a metro police officer in Kliptown, Soweto.
Nicholas Robinson was en route to report for duty when he was approached by a group of men and shot 13 times earlier this month.
While fleeing the scene, police say the group then robbed and fatally wounded a woman and shot another man.
The Lesotho national was arrested in Klerksdorp on Wednesday, while the search for the four other suspects continues.
The Hawks's Robert Netshiunda says, "We investigated further and went to a squatter camp in Kliptown, where we found a police magazine with one live round, as well as a firearm. The suspect will appear in the Protea Regional Court tomorrow."
