Parents locked the gates at the school following concerns of structural issues at the start of the year.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Department of Education says it is attending to structural issues at an Atlantis school.
Parents locked the gates of Avondale Primary and blocked access to teachers and learners following concerns of structural issues at the start of the 2016 school year.
The department's Jessica Shelver says a structural engineer has deemed a number of classrooms safe at the school.
She says the engineer has, however, identified some areas of the building that need to be cordoned off until repairs to certain features are made.
"In the meantime, we have arranged with the principal association of for them to accommodate the learners at Avondale Primary School to attend surrounding schools."
