JOHANNESBURG - The Ekurhuleni Metro Police chief has confirmed two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of an officer.

The suspects were tracked down in Daveyton last night.

They were apparently found in possession of Major Coert Jordaan’s vehicle and his service firearm.

Jordaan was attacked and stabbed to death while fishing in Springs this week.

He was off duty at the time.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Chief Bafana Mahlabe says robbery appears to be the motive.

“It does appear as if it was robbery as they were in possession of one unlicensed firearm, a cellphone jammer and apparently they interacted with him before they contacted him. When we look at them, it’s not those kind of professional criminals.”
