Meningitis outbreak 'contained' in Mossel Bay
At least 9 children & an adult have reportedly contracted the disease in the Garden Route town.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Health Department says an outbreak of viral meningitis in Mossel Bay is contained.
The department's Communicable Diseases Unit was dispatched to help deal with the situation after at least nine children and an adult reportedly contracted the disease.
The department's Marika Champion says, "At the moment, it seems contained and it is very localised. We have actually done interventions at crèches and other similar places as children are very vulnerable. At the moment it [an outbreak] doesn't look likely, but it is something we will keep an eye on."
Champion said the outbreak would be monitored daily.
