CAPE TOWN – A new coffee shop opening on Cape Town's Long Street next month will be providing two dozen disabled people with jobs.

The non-profit initiative aims to train people with special needs to work in the hospitality and retail industry.

This is the first coffee shop of its kind in the country.

Dutch social worker and founder of the shop, Wendy Vermeulen, said, “We will train them for three months then we see how it goes. If they are ready to go into the work field, we will speak to businesses that are looking to hire.”
