CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) will announce its Cape Town mayoral candidate for the upcoming local government elections on Monday afternoon.

Incumbent Patricia de Lille, who also leads the party in the Western Cape, is up against four lesser known party members.

They are Guy Andrews, Daniel Jacobs, Peter Meakin and Ursula Schenker.

One will emerge successful after being interviewed by the party's electoral college.

De Lille is seen as the strongest candidate to lead the DA’s campaign.

During the 2011 polls, the DA won 136 out of the 221 seats in the City Council.

Meanwhile, the DA yesterday welcomed late African National Congress (ANC) Stalwart Steve Tshwete’s eldest son, Lindela to the party.

The 57-year-old will be running to be a Cape Town councilor.
