CAPE TOWN - Metrorail says it’s lost more than 20 train coaches to arson since last year.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a deadly fire which destroyed two train carriages near Fish Hoek yesterday.

Officials discovered a body inside one of the burnt out carriages.

The rail operator’s Riana Scott says they’ve been hard hit by vandals.

“We’ve lost more than 20 carriages over the last 12 months due to arson. If this proves to be another case of arson, we really would encourage people to come forward with any information that can police put the culprits away.”
