PE man cycling between SANParks to save rhinos
The man is cycling 6,000 kilometres to raise funds for anti-rhino poaching initiatives.
CAPE TOWN - A Port Elizabeth man is cycling 6,000 kilometres to raise funds for anti-rhino poaching initiatives.
There's been a slight decline in rhino poaching for the first time in three years.
In 2015, 1,175 of the animals were killed, 40 less than the previous year.
Businessman and honorary SANParks ranger Wayne Bolton says this is still too high.
"I'm cycling between all 19 SANParks and in so doing, I am showing that we are all united. We should be united in our attempts to conserve our natural heritage along with SANParks."
Bolton started cycling from the Kruger National Park in November last year to raise awareness and funds for rhino conservation efforts.
Bolton is currently in the West Coast region, outside Cape Town.
