15-year jail sentence in KZN exorcism-murder welcomed

JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC Weziwe Thusi has welcomed the 15-year jail sentences handed to four women who killed their 15-year-old relative during an attempted exorcism.
Sinethemba Dlamini's mutilated body was discovered at her home in Umlazi in 2012.
The women told the court they believed the teenager was a 'devil worshiper' and needed to be freed from her demons.
The MEC's spokesperson Ncumisa Ndelu said, "The MEC has welcomed the case and says it was a bizarre case to begin with. To think that it was done in the name of faith. She says she's glad the court saw through it and recognised that child abuse is child abuse and that there is no excuse for it."
