NPA enlists the help of FBI in Camps Bay murder case
Gabriela Alban was found dead in a Camps Bay hotel room in 2015.
CAPE TOWN - An investigation into murder accused Diego Novella is now focused on cellphones found in the hotel room where his girlfriend was killed.
His attorney, William Booth, was in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court today to discuss aspects of the case with the state.
The prosecution has tried to get access to two iPhones found in a hotel room where Alban's body was found.
It's emerged in court today that the National Prosecuting Authority is considering asking the Federal Bureau of Investigations to help in getting the information.
It's understood the investigating officer could not unlock the phones that authorities hope contain information that could help the investigation.
The accused was not in court today as he is undergoing psychological evaluation at Valkenberg hospital.
He could be available when the case is back in court next month.
