3rd suspect in SSA robbery case believed to be dangerous
Two agency employees have already been arrested & charged with the theft of R17 million.
PRETORIA – The Hawks have confirmed they’re searching for a third suspect linked to the theft of R17 million from the State Security Agency (SSA), but they’ve warned the public that he is believed to be dangerous.
Two agency employees have been arrested and charged with the theft, which took place last month at the agency’s high-security headquarters in Pretoria East.
One of the accused has been released on bail while the other is still in custody.
Eyewitness News understands that the suspect on the run is in possession of a substantial amount of the money stolen from the agency.
Police have charged the agency’s head of security and the director general’s personal protector with the crime.
It’s believed the third suspect is their friend.
The police’s Hangwani Mulaudzi declined to divulge further details relating to the case.
“He is not an employee of the SSA, but the investigations have linked him to that case. He’s very dangerous, so when people see him they must not even confront him, they must just phone the nearest police station.”
