Police search for third suspect in SSA robbery case
The Hawks released an image of a man believed to be behind the theft of R17m from the SSA.
Pretoria - The Hawks have called on the public once again to help in their investigation into the theft of millions of rands from the State Security Agency in December last year, and have released photos of the suspect they're looking for.
Eyewitness News understands that this latest suspect, wanted by the police, is considered the mastermind of the crime and is possession of a substantial amount of the stolen cash.
Members of the public are urged to inform the police about his whereabouts and do not attempt to apprehend him as he is believed to be dangerous.
A substantial reward, which has not been disclosed, will be offered to anyone who will offer information on the whereabouts of the man.
The Hawks' Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed that he is not an SSA employee.
"Investigations have revealed that this person was part and parcel of the group. He is a very dangerous person so when people see him they must not even confront him. They must just phone the nearest police station."
The police have urged all with information regarding his hide-out to contact Colonel Tolie Vreugdengburg on 0824517226 or Colonel Makasela Nkuna on 0825658506 or the nearest police station.
In the release sent out this afternoon, the police said all information will be handled with strictest confidence.
Two agency employees have been arrested and charged with burglary and theft.
One accused has been released on bail, while the other is still in custody.
