Woman mauled by lion in Zim
The villager had been guarding the carcass of a cow which was also killed by a pride of lions.
HARARE - A lion has killed and eaten a woman in Zimbabwe in a village near the resort town of Victoria Falls.
State media is reporting that the woman was guarding the carcass of a cow killed by a pride of lions.
This is a tragic example of the dangers that villagers living in some of Zimbabwe's rural areas can face.
Sarah Tshuma, who's reported to have been in her sixties, appears not to have been on her own when the lion pounced.
The state-run Sunday News says that the attack happened around 2am on Saturday, when Tshuma and several other villagers were guarding the carcass of a cow that had been killed by lions.
The paper says a lioness crept back and attacked Tshuma.
Reports say she wasn't quick enough to escape and was killed and partially eaten by the lion.
