NW Health Dept. saddened by heatstroke deaths
At least 11 people including an 80-year-old man have died of heatstroke in the province.
JOHANNESBURG - The North West provincial Health Department says it's saddened by the passing of 11 people including an 80-year-old man who died of heatstroke in the province.
Scorching temperatures have persisted in many areas as the country grapples with the latest heatwave.
While temperatures have cooled, the weather service says some parts of the country are still in the midst of a heatwave.
North West Provincial Health Department spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane says, "We urge communities and individuals in the province to be cautious and ensure that they take cover under shade when the temperatures are high."
