JOHANNESBURG - A suspected cop killer has been shot and killed in Pietermaritzburg.
His alleged accomplice was wounded.
The Hawks say units have been searching for the 21-year-old Siyabonga 'Mamba' Ndlovu for some time and tracked him down to Greytown in KwaZulu-Natal last night.
The pair were driving when a shootout ensued with the Hawks, fatally wounding Ndlovu at the scene; while his accomplice was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says Ndlovu was wanted for various crimes including killing a police officer in Mbazwana.
"He has been wanted for a string of cases including police killings, hijacking and attempted murders. He was very young but very dangerous."
Meanwhile, six men were arrested in connection with two recent police murders in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.
The suspects are also wanted for several other crimes including business robberies and murder, which they committed in the province.
They were arrested near Eshowe.
