Man accused of murdering lover’s child (5) to remain behind bars
The man allegedly tied the child & beat her to death after she urinated on a couch while she slept.
JOHANNESBURG - A North West man accused of murdering his girlfriend's five-year-old daughter has been remanded in custody after his case was postponed in the Bloemhof Magistrates Court.
Jacob Seekoei made his first appearance yesterday and is expected to formally apply for bail on Monday.
The 29-year-old man was arrested last week after the child's mother called police to their home in Boitumelong.
He allegedly tied the child to a support structure in the house and beat her to death after she urinated on the couch, while she was asleep.
When the mother tried to intervene, she too was assaulted.
The police's Kealeboga Molale said, "Jacob Seekoi is 29-years-old and he is accused of murdering a five-year-old girl. He is still in custody and he will appear in court on 11 January for a formal bail application."
