Vodacom begins refund process after billing bungle
The mobile operator says a technical glitch caused customer accounts to be debited twice.
JOHANNESBURG - Vodacom says it's in the process of refunding customers after double debiting their accounts in December.
The mobile phone operator says a technical glitch caused the problem on the monthly bill run during the holiday season.
Vodacom sent SMSes to several customers last week informing them that the company was aware that some accounts were debited twice.
Spokesperson Tshepo Ramodibe says, "We did say close of business on Monday, but we are working closely with those stakeholders. You can imagine, its many different banks with different schedules, but we have engaged all stakeholders to get the support and we are still committed to implementing and making sure all the refunds are done."
