Thokoza father arrested for abuse, holding kids captive
It’s understood the six children, aged between 2 and 21, were locked up for years.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have arrested a man in Thokoza for allegedly abusing six children in his home.
The Daily Sun is reporting the children were locked up for years by the man, who is believed to be their father.
The paper says he kept the eldest child locked up in the house for over 21 years and often tied him up before leaving the building.
The children, aged between two and 21, apparently never went to school and one daughter, aged 15, says she was repeatedly raped.
But police could not confirm this.
Police spokesman Captain Mega Ndobe says that officers were called to the house to investigate claims of assault this week when they found the children.
Ndobe tells Eyewitness News that a 53-year-old man was arrested for assault and intent to cause grievous bodily harm and a case of abuse will be added.
He says the children were taken to hospital and are now being cared for at a place of safety.
