Khune out for 6 weeks
Itumeleng Khune will be out of action for six weeks after suffering a stress fracture.
JOHANNESBURG - The stress fracture to the ankle suffered by Itumeleng Khune will keep the Chiefs shot stopper out of action for six weeks, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed.
The news about the keeper's injury was revealed after he failed to board the flight for Bafana Bafana's qualifier against Sudan on Friday.
Chiefs' Vina Maphosa reveals the extent of Khune's injury.
"He went for a scan that showed a small fracture and he will now be put in a medical boot for up to six weeks. He should be able to return to full activity by mid-October"
The injury theoretically rules Khune out of the much-anticipated MTN8 Soweto Derby final against Orlando Pirates on 20 September.
But Maphosa says any decision about Khune's availability for that game will be made prior to the match.
"As thing stand, we expect him to be out until mid-October but you can't rule out a player before the coach determines that during the week of the game"
