A rhino bull was shot and dehorned by an unknown number of poachers on Wednesday.
CAPE TOWN - SANParks says it's shocked following the first poaching incident at the Mapungubwe National Park in Limpopo.
A rhino bull was shot and dehorned by an unknown number of poachers on Wednesday, making it the first reported incident at the national park.
Police and SANParks environmental crime investigators are searching the area for clues.
Spokesperson Ike Phaahla says they will be looking into more security at the park.
"We're shocked at the incident but we're continuing to fight this battle against rhino poaching and we are going to strengthen security."
Phahla said their mandate was conservation and would leave matters of the law infringement to the police service.
