JOHANNESBURG - Damaged pylons in Lenasia resulted in widespread electricity outages in various Gauteng suburbs on Friday.

Lenasia residents have been warned they may be without electricity until Saturday.

City Power's Louis Pieterse says cross members of the pylons were stolen, causing the bolts to loosen at the base, resulting in the collapse of one of them.

These photos were taken by iWitness Faizel Patel.
