Filipa Carmo Da Silva won the cover song competition for her rendition of One Direction's 'Story of my Life'.
JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's own YouTube sensation Filipa Carmo da Silva has won RyanSeacrest.com's cover song competition for her rendition of One Direction's hit song Story of my Life.
The competition, which began six weeks ago, saw 26 finalists go head-to-head, with the voting process driven by public vote.
After five competitive rounds, 18-year-old Carmo da Silva walked away with top honours with her Pearl Harbor-themed music video directed by Kyle White ahead of UK X Factor twins John and Edward who came second.
X Factor USA Finalist Josh Levi came third.
Speaking to 94.7's Breakfast Express team earlier this morning, the teenager said she still can't believe the good news.
"I am at a loss for words, it's unbelievable! I found out the news at around 3am. Thank you to everyone for supporting me."
Carmo da Silva is currently working on her debut album and her first original single is due out next month.
