Glenvista school investigated
A whistleblower called govt with claims that a staff member pocketed money from the school.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Department of Education says it will now conduct a forensic investigation into the case of alleged financial mismanagement at Glenvista High School.
A whistleblower called the department with claims that one of the staff members had been pocketing money from the school's finances.
The department says an initial investigation showed that further investigation is needed and it has now employed an external auditing company to continue the probe.
The department's Phumla Sekhonyane said, "Preliminary investigations indicated the need for forensic investigation and we've appointed an independent investigator to conduct that."
The school has been in the spotlight before following a viral video which showed a pupil hitting a teacher with a broom while fellow pupils encouraged him.
