SPCA probes latest dog-fighting site
The SPCA is investigating the prevalence of dog fighting in Hangberg in Hout Bay.
CAPE TOWN - The Cape of Good Hope Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) says it is looking into the prevalence of dog fighting in Hangberg in Hout Bay.
Last week a video given to Eyewitness News by a concerned Hout Bay resident shows what seems to be a group of boys hosting a dog fight in the bushes above Hangberg.
The SPCA's Moyo Ndugwana says they are looking into the matter.
"We received the video. We still need information as to who the people were and any leads that we can use to further investigate the matter."
Hangberg community leader Greg Louw says he is surprised to hear this was happening in the area.
"It's surprising for me that they're physically hosting it now. That's a big concern for me."
SPCA officials say some bets on dog fights on the Cape flats may include sexual favours, drugs and weapons.
