WP in talks with Saru
Western Province Vodacom Cup coach John Dobson is still hoping to negotiate the release of players.
CAPE TOWN - Western Province Vodacom Cup coach John Dobson on Wednesday said he is still hoping to negotiate the release of players from the Springbok under-20 squad.
He wants them to compete in the semi-final against the Lions.
Province lost three players to the Springbok squad who will face Namibia in preparation for the Junior World Cup in France.
Fullback Cheslin Kolbe is one player who will miss the match.
Dobson said he does not understand why the South African Rugby Union (Saru) cannot allow them to play in the Vodacom Cup.
“We try and help SA rugby to develop some youngsters and our reward is to lose them for a final. We are still talking to SA Rugby to see if we can get anyone released. Cheslin is a major blow but with Tim Swiel, we’ll be able to plug that hole.”
