CAPE TOWN - Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher's last appearance in a Liverpool jersey will be against Ajax Cape Town.

The City of Cape Town on Monday confirmed the details of Liverpool's trip to the Mother City, where they will take on the Urban Warriors on 21 May.

The city's Grant Pascoe said 38-year-old Carragher, who is set to retire at the end of the season, will use the match to bid farewell to football.

“This will be part of a farewell tour for Jamie Carragher. He’s coming to say goodbye to the South African fans. There’s quite a huge following in South Africa and in Cape Town in particular.

Meanwhile, suspended Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will not play against Ajax Cape Town.

Suarez was banned for 10 matches for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool is set to bring their strongest possible side to take on the urban warriors which will include the retired Carragher and captain Steven Gerrard if his shoulder operation is postponed.

Pascoe said the Suarez ban includes the match against Ajax.

“He’s not able to play any football even in a match like this. I’m sitting with a list of players that were agreed to in the contract and it’s the strongest first team that will be here and about five reserve team players.”

Ticket prices range from R150 - R350 and will be available at all Computicket and Cape Town Tourism Visitor Information Centres from Thursday.
