Kempton Park factory fire extinguished
Six people were injured after a fire broke out at Oricol Environment Services in Kempton Park.
JOHANNESBURG - Firefighters have brought a blaze at a factory in Kempton Park under control.
Six people were injured in the fire which broke out after an explosion on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters are still roaming the smoky insides of the factory putting out the last flames as paramedics and police clear the scene.
Two people were critically injured and four others seriously injured in the explosion that appears to have been set off during the shredding of aerosol cans.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services’ William Ntladi said, “One of the injured patients who has been airlifted to Milpark Hospital was operating the machine. One of the aerosol cans exploded in the machine and triggered the explosion.”
Oricol employees and onlookers from neighbouring buildings are still staring at the burnt factory.
