Pray for Madiba - Presidency
The Presidency has called on South Africans keep Nelson Mandela in their prayers during his hospitalisation.
PRETORIA - President Jacob Zuma has wished Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery.
The 94-year-old former president was admitted to hospital just before midnight for a recurring lung infection.
The Presidency's Mac Maharaj says, “We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family and to keep them in our thoughts.”
It is not known which hospital the former president is being treated at.
Earlier in March, Madiba was admitted to a Pretoria hospital for a scheduled check-up.
He was discharged the following day.
Mandela is South Africa's first democratic elected president.
