JOHANNESBURG - At least one person was killed on Monday, in a massive accident on the N1 South near the 14 Avenue off-ramp.
Thirty others were injured in the crash.
Details surrounding the accident were sketchy, but it is understood the crash involved 22 vehicles, including a truck and a taxi.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinman said “there were people entrapped as well because there were vehicles pushed against the barrier.”
Traffic was affected in both directions.
In a separate incident in Cape Town today, one person died and another was seriously injured following a car crash in Cape Town's CBD.
The cause of the accident, which occurred on Buitengracht Street, was still unknown at 9am.
Spokesperson for Cape Town emergency services,Theo Layne, said a woman died as a result of her injuries.
He said CPR was unsuccessful.
