Joost gets lifetime achievement award
Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula on Friday presented Joost van der Westhuizen with his trophy.
SANDTON - Former Springbok Captain Joost van der Westhuizen was presented with a lifetime achievement award at his home in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, on Friday.
In November, the rugby player scooped the coveted Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Award during the South African Sports Awards, but he was not there to collect his prize because of a miscommunication.
Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula presented van der Westhuizen with his trophy.
The former skipper, who is suffering from a motor neuron diseases (MND) said he was very humbled by the recognition.
"I want to say thank you," van der Westhuizen said.
