JOHANNESBURG - A man accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in Soweto has been arrested in Jabulani.
The police's Kay Makhubela says the man forced his way into the woman's flat in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Makhubela says the man was not known to the woman.
“After the rape, she came straight to the police station. The police started searching for the man. He was arrested in the area.”
Meanwhile, police are still searching for three men in connection with gang-rape in Carletonville.
The victim was gang-raped by 15 men last week.
It is believed the illegal miners beat the woman before taking turns raping her in a shack.
Since the beginning of 2013, several women and children have been raped throughout the country.
The ANC has called on South African men to unite and fight rape.
According to statistics, a woman is raped every four minutes in South Africa.
