CAPE TOWN - An Atlantis man who is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death is due to appear in the Atlantis Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Residents handed over the 28-year-old to police on Wednesday.
Melandri Bukkies was killed at her home on Monday.
The police's Fredrick van Wyk said, “A 28-year-old male has been apprehended. The suspect will appear in court on a charge of murder.”
The incident came nearly a week after the brutal murder of 18-year-old Jo-Anne van Schalkwyk whose body was found in a bush in the West Coast town.
On Wednesday, University of Cape Town staff and students took part in a protest to highlight the scourge of violence against women and children.
They called on government and civil organisations to work together to deal with the matter.
